The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak suggests hold the eleventh meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission on Cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in Dnipropetrovsk in March this year.
On Thursday, during the meeting with the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin in Saint Petersburg, Volodymyr Rybak noted that holding of this meeting shall be the first step towards activation of the inter-parliamentary component of bilateral relations.
Volodymyr Rybak stood for renewing previous meetings of the working groups of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission, which, he believes, shall allow bring up for discussion the agreed decisions on topical issues of bilateral agenda.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada deems it necessary to expand cooperation in the line of specialized parliamentary committees and friendship groups, as well as in the line of parliamentary delegations in the international parliamentary unions. “In this connection I would like to emphasize mutually beneficial relations between our delegates, particularly in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the OSCE PA, as well as in the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.
In his turn, Sergey Naryshkin also stood for the necessity to coordinate stands “on the international platforms”. The Chairman of the State Duma suggested hold the joint conference on cooperation of both parliaments in June this year on the territory of the Russian Federation.
The issue of cooperation between Ukraine and the Customs Union was also discussed during the meeting.
The Parties have discussed the issue of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Volodymyr Rybak shall hold a number of bilateral meetings and participate in the meeting of the CIS Council of the International Parliamentary Assembly and shall also address the participants of the International Parliamentary Conference “Role of parliamentary organizations in building Europe without dividing lines”.
